In April, Gabriela Lopez-Gonzalez (ForestPlots.net / RAINFOR) co-ordinated the content and taught 2 workshops in Brazil in the management and analysis of tropical forest data. Attendees were taught how to use ForestPlots.net to load, analyse and manage information for long term monitoring plots, and share best practices in analysis and use of data.
The first workshop took place in Campos (16-17th April), at the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribero. The workshop was part of the activities of the NERC project “Dry forest biomes in Brazil: biodiversity and ecosystem services”. This workshop was attended by 10 participants from Brazil and was coordinated by Marcelo Nascimento.
In Manaus (25-29th April), at the National Institute of Amazon Research (INPA / MCTI), Flavia Costa (INPA / PPBio) organised the “PPBio-Rainfor: “Workshop de gerenciamento e análise de dados de vegetação”. The 5 day workshop was received by 21 participants, INPA, PPBio and RAINFOR researchers. The workshop was taught by Gabriela Lopez Gonzalez with help from Thaiane Rodrigues de Sousa (PPBio) and Fernanda Coelho de Souza (RAINFOR / PPBio / CENBAM).
Congratulations to all of the participants, who brought their own data to work with, and data for 26 plots have already been uploaded. Please visit the RAINFOR Facebook Group page (RAINFOR.project) to see some photos from the event.
